Get experience

Insurers will cut the cost of cover to customers who have a record of not making claims, and who have built up a few years' no-claims bonus. This shows they are experienced, less risky drivers - exactly the kind of people insurers want to do business with.

One way for young or new drivers to build up this experience - and get their no-claims bonus more quickly - is by signing up to a policy with a bonus accelerator.

These policies typically run for slightly less than a year - usually 10 months - but give the policyholder a full year's no-claims bonus at the end.

So you would be able to build up three years' no-claim bonus in just two-and-a-half years.

This kind of policy is also suitable for anyone who has recently had to make a claim, and needs to start building up their no-claims bonus from scratch again.

A survey by the body earlier this year found that 14 million people felt let down by their local garages.

To join the scheme, mechanics have to pay £75 and must then agree to abide by the rules of the Service and Repair Code and provide:

· Honest and fair services
· Open and transparent pricing
· Work completed as agreed
· Invoices that match quoted prices
· Competent and conscientious staff.

Garages must check with customers before starting any extra work that is deemed necessary; and there has to be a clear complaint procedure in place as well.

Your rights

According to Trading Standards, services and repairs are covered under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 and the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002. Under these laws you are entitled to expect that the work be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time at a reasonable charge. If a part is replaced, the new part should be of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose and as described.

If you're not happy with the work

Trading Standards says that you should give a garage the chance to rectify any faults - but if they fail to do so, you are entitled to get the work done elsewhere and bill the first garage.

Bear in mind also that if you pay by credit card for any work costing £100 or more, you are covered for any disputes under the Consumer Credit Act, and will be able to recover losses from your card provider.

The park was first found in 1925 as a small area bounded by Karisimbi, Visoke and Mikeno. The primary intentions of the park were to protect gorillas from poachers. It became the first National Park in Africa to be created, which brings with it a great deal of history that must be seen.

Many recognize the park based off of the famous American naturalist Dian Fossey, who took her conducted her research on gorillas here. She arrived in 1967 and set up the Karisoke Research Centre, which is another site-seeing destination you must take in. She is widely credited for saving the gorillas from extinction. Following her horrific murder by unknown assailants in 1985, her life was portrayed in the film Gorillas in the Mist.

If you're allergic to latex you will probably know prior to your tattoo. Let the artist know to allow them to accommodate you. The signs of an allergic reaction to latex are extreme rash/redness in the case of latex (from gloves worn by the artist) we can use non-latex gloves and tape on you.

Allergies to Tattoo Ink -

Allergic reactions to tattoo ink are very, very, rare but unfortunately possible. Most professional tattoo pigments are made out of natural ingredients that shouldn't cause a problem. They has been proven by their use successfully in the tattoo industry for many years.

Most people don't have any idea they are allergic to certain colors of ink until after the tattoo has been applied. However we have noticed that those people who are allergic to metals and have reactions to cheep jewelry often do react. At our shops, we have only seen reactions with one particular red which we rarely use.

In case you are allergic to a pigment it'll be evident by just that particular color bubbling and raising off of your skin. It looks like a blister or a raised red mole. It will itch and not look completely healed no matter how long it is often.

You have two choices. One is to remove the offending color or to use hydrocortisone cream to control the itching and promote healing which can extend to 5 years. Removal is not any more painful than the tattoo process and after it heals another color may be used to finish the tattoo.

If you're concerned about having a reaction to tattoo ink ask your artist about doing a "prick test" where a small dot of each color to use in your potential artwork is tattooed under your skin at least 10 days before your tattoo. This can cost you extra money, but when you have a lot of allergies it is sometimes better harmless than sorry.

Exposures to Toxins or Bacteria -

If you work/live in an environment with dirt and filth you be in danger of infection. Emergency rooms, nursing homes, hospitals, being around animals & their waste, toxic chemicals, and filth of all kinds can cause serious infections.

It is nearly impossible to get an infection in a professionally applied tattoo. Tattoo shops are required to use more safety precautions than hospitals, doctors, and dentists do. Most shops are inspected regularly by the local health department and display a certificate of their status. If you're still worried about the shop, go someplace else.

Be smart and use common sense. If you have a dirty job, wear loose protective clothing , nor touch your tattoo unless you have washed your hands. Dirty bedding is another problem. Put fresh sheets on your bed if you haven't done so within several days of getting your tattoo. Wear clean clothing. Use clean towels and washcloths.

Certain insurers are more expensive than others so it might not surprise you that some provider charge more for third party, fire and theft (TPFT) than others do for comprehensive cover.

Bad news about your no-claims bonuses

When you get a protected no-claims bonus and you have an accident, your premium is still likely to rise.

What happens is, you have a £200 policy with a 65 per cent no claims bonus. Without the bonus, your policy would be £570. You then have an accident. Next year, you've still got your 65 per cent bonus because it was protected. However, the insurer now sees you as higher risk, and has increased your pre-discount premium of £570 to £685. When you deduct the 65 per cent bonus, your policy now costs you £240 - an increase of £40.

Be careful how you fill in forms

Sometimes you ask for and pay for a protected bonus when you're not entitled to protection. Typically you'll lose your protection if you've had two claims in three years. Then, after the next claim, your bonus starts being reduced.

The problem is that not all insurers are smart enough to put your two claims in three years together when you request protection. Hence they, or your broker, process the insurance with an additional charge for protection that you can't actually use.

Thankfully, this problem should be largely or totally eliminated when you compare online due to automated system that is used.

Small print to watch out for

Some policies are more comprehensive than others. There's no such thing as a standard policy, so keep an eye out for the bits that are important to you. While you should always read the small print, here's a list of some of the more significant elements that can vary:

* Courtesy cars are no longer standard on all comprehensive policies and sometimes you're limited to just 14 days' free usage. You may not get a courtesy car if your vehicle is written off.
